Babala 1.0 under development |

Pavel is now working actively on a new version of Babala, tentatively to be version 1.0. He has agreed to make it fully open-sourced, which will simplify the download and install process for Windows users. By making the software open-sourced, licensing restrictions are lifted on the embedding of the needed GTK+ libraries. Unfortunately, this will obsolete any Web high score posting, because those honor rolls could be easily compromised by those with programming savvy. Oh alas! The new version will include 100 more levels, two new enemy types and three additional field features. One of the new enemy types shoots a deadly fireball, so there goes one of the most fundamental premises of Babala ...that it's a game about eluding "muggers".

Papalot, a new game in development |

Pavel has created a new strategy game for browser (a Java applet), with the working name of Papalot. The concepts are well formulated but the game is only now just born and is still rudimentary. As of this writing, there are only 10 levels in the contest, on a featureless playing field. Various field features are planned: swamps, hills, etc. You can try out this new game right now; click here.
Pavel is looking for cooperation from a talented amateur 2D graphics designer. This time he needs help with Papalot, but he plans other games as well. Perhaps eventually the graphics for
Babala could be improved. Pavel needs better graphic skills than he himself possesses. If you have such skills and are willing to contribute to these freeware game projects, then please contact Pavel to exchange ideas and proposals. Pavel's contact info is listed here. Thank you.

Version 0.4.0 Released |
Wednesday, 23 August 2006 |
On this date is released the next beta version of the Babala game. Its main improvement is that it enables users to post their record high Game scores and Level scores to the Worldwide Web. Also, the scoring parameters were further tweaked and perfected, so the score files from earlier versions have to be discounted as obsolete. There were a few minor bug fixes as well, including resolution of that troublesome issue where time bomb numerals sometimes failed to render. We hope you enjoy the challenge of Babala 0.4.0! |

Today, Pavel published a testing version of his new creation, Cetris, a Java applet game of considerable mental challenge. The game is played online using a Web browser, and the top 20 high scores achieved are recorded, along with those players' names. Try your hand at it and see how well you stack up.

On this date was released a major new version 0.3.0 of the Babala game. Its main enhancement was the addition of 75 new levels. These new levels are mostly harder ones, and time to complete the whole game should now be about double what it was before. Click here to read the official blurb.
Also, the Babala.org web site was updated with a new section, Help Us. If you like the game, then consider employing some of the promotion tools found therein.
